Helping families care for their senior loved ones

EVENTS: Spring/Summer 2019

Mary Anne Oglesby-Sutherly, founder and executive director of Veranda Ministries, was recognized during “Huck’s Heroes,” a special segment of Gov. Mike Huckabee’s show “Huckabee” that aired nationally March 3, 2018 on Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN).

Huckabee selects an everyday American hero from submitted nominations to feature during each Huckabee episode as “Huck’s Hero.” Previous honorees have included teachers, soldiers, policemen and religious leaders, those who “have displayed a genuine act of bravery in his or her community.”

Oglesby-Sutherly was notified of her selection as a “Huck’s Hero,” in late November 2017 for her vision of establishing Veranda Ministries and its work in Sumner County.

In June 2016, The Veranda and its families were featured in "NPT Reports: Aging Matters," a special series produced by Nashville Public Television. The episode "Living with Alzheimer's and Dementia" featured The Veranda, its families and how it serves the Sumner County community. Watch the episode online.

"NPT Reports: Aging Matters” is a major multi-year initiative designed to open a community-based conversation about what Middle Tennessee’s older citizens need to optimize their quality of life and what the community needs to do to prepare for a coming explosion in our aging population.
