“The Christmas Gift” on Dec. 1 to feature beloved Christian music family, The Talleys, at 9th annual benefit for The Veranda respite program

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 21, 2020

GALLATIN, TENN. — The Talleys, one of Christian music’s most beloved and respected families, will headline “The Christmas Gift,” a music event benefiting The Veranda. Special guest includes award-winning pianist Jeff Stice.

The event will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at The Depot Square in Gallatin, Tenn. A silent auction begins at 5:30 p.m.; coffee and dessert bar opens at 6 p.m.; and the concert begins at 7 p.m.

Cost is $25 per person. Seating is limited to 200, and must be reserved in advance by Nov. 27. Guests are asked to wear masks, and social-distancing measures and precautions will be observed for the safety and well-being of event attendees.

The Talleys began in 1984 and enjoyed many years of success. After a three-year hiatus, the family begin performing together in 1996 with the current lineup of Roger, wife Debra and daughter Lauren.

The Talleys have enjoyed 11 No. 1 songs and have received Dove Awards and numerous Singing News Fan Awards. They are frequently recognized for their appearance on the Gaither Homecoming video series and concert tour, as well as In Touch with Dr. Charles Stanley and John Hagee Ministries. The Talleys have appeared on RFD-TVs “The Music City Show” and have toured overseas to Norway, Northern Ireland, Italy and South Africa. Their 2015 Dove Award winning song, “Hidden Heroes,” pays tribute to those who care for the needs of others, and is the theme song of Veranda Ministries.

The Dec. 1 event is one of the Talleys’ final performances as a group due to the upcoming retirement of Roger and Debra at the end of this year. Lauren, who is recognized as one of Christian music’s most dynamic talents, will continue as a full-time solo artist.

Sutherly said this year’s theme—“The Christmas Gift”—was chosen to honor the Talleys.

“Roger, Debra and Lauren have used their God-given talents to honor Him since their career began, and in doing so, the Talleys have been a gift to thousands of individuals across the country and world,” Mary Anny Oglesby-Sutherly, director of Veranda Ministries, said. “This year’s event will be particularly memorable in that it’s possibly the last opportunity people may have to hear the Talleys perform in the Nashville area.

“The Talleys are among Veranda Ministries’ strongest advocates, but more important than that, they are true messengers of the Gospel. Very few in Christian music can compare with that unmistakable ‘Talley sound’ and the clear communication of the gospel in their music,” Sutherly said. “You don’t want to miss this special night.

“I will never be able to thank Roger, Debra and Lauren enough for all they have done for The Veranda over the years—and especially during this pandemic that completely disrupted their normal tour. They chose to use one of their final concerts to help The Veranda. They truly are a gift to us, and they will always be part of our Veranda Ministries family … and our entire family is really excited about celebrating the start of Christmas together,” she said. “We invite others to join us for an incredibly special evening.”
